Alan Dudman takes over from Alan Thompson for the next seven days and has identified two Monday bets that can hopefully make a profit...

"His latest effort was in a stronger race over Wolves' 7f, and he wasn't beaten too far at a huge price in fourth."

Back Critical Thinking @ [8.2] in the 18:20 at Wolverhampton

Nirodha to display her toughness from the front again

14:05 Thirsk - Back Nirodha @ [5.10]

There are plenty of runners over the eight-race card at Thirsk for Monday, and it's the track I am heading to for my first bet of the afternoon with Nirodha.

She was as game as anything when winning last time out at Haydock, and whilst she has gone up another 5lb to 77 for the victory, she won with a bit in hand and found plenty for pressure to score by over two lengths. Her attitude was certainly a "thou shall not pass" one.

The time of that race was positive too in relation to the previous division on the card.

Nirodha can make the running and is versatile in terms of ground conditions, as the Haydock success came with cut in the surface. She had previously held some winning form on good to firm - and that's a plus, as the changing forecast hasn't been the easiest in the last few weeks.

There's obvious scope to trade from her price of [5.10] too using the back-to-lay method.

Critical looks a wise selection at his favourite track

18:20 Wolverhampton - Back Critical Thinking @ [8.2]

Critical Thinking is a Wolverhampton specialist, and he should go well at a good price in the 18:20.

There's an old favourite of mine in opposition, though, in the shape of Traveller, but I have to let him slide for today, as Critical Thinking has been running fairly well of late without winning.

His latest effort was in a stronger race over Wolves' 7f, and he wasn't beaten too far at a huge price in fourth.

The assessor has lowered him another 1lb, which brings him nicely into line with his last winning mark.

Back up in distance, Ray Dawson's claim and a downgrade, he is worth chancing at a big price of [8.2].
