Rhys Williams' Racing Tips: Switch to right hand track key ingredient at Hereford

Our racing expert has one selection on Tuesday

Rhys Williams has analysed Tuesday's racing and has one selection at Hereford.

"I think there's the potential for improvement given that he won't be losing so much ground the whole way round."

Switch to right-handed track will suit

Hereford 14:48: No Anxiety 1pt win 13/8

No Anxiety was a winner on chasing debut at Uttoxeter early this season but despite showing a frequent tendency to jump out to the right, suggesting that a switch to a right-handed track would be more suitable, connections decided to run him twice more on a left-handed track.

He was narrowly beaten next time out at Warwick when that tendency to jump out to the right cost him victory. Having initially raced towards the back of the field, he made headway with a circuit to go and briefly joined the leader at the second fence on the final circuit. He lost his place a little shortly after turning to face the line of five fences and he still had plenty of ground to make up on the leader while racing in second turning the final bend. He closed strongly late on but couldn't quite get past Hawthorn Cottage and was beaten a neck.

The accumulation of ground lost through jumping to the right cost him victory and yet connections still persisted with running him on a left-handed track when going to Southwell for his latest start. He was regularly out to the right and jumping cautiously but he was still in touch at 2 out when landing very awkwardly and losing all chance.

There is a worry that No Anxiety's confidence in jumping will have been impacted by those races and even now switching to a right-handed track he will jump cautiously and not gain the expected benefit but I think there's the potential for improvement given that he won't be losing so much ground the whole way round.

I think he's open to more improvement than both of his rivals, who may also take each other on for the lead, and while the market has identified that to some extent this morning I think he's still overpriced and any 11/8 or bigger appeals.
