Fergie can continue his red-hot form with handicap starter

Back Viadelamore @ 6/1 in the 14:10 at Redcar

Rookie trainer James Ferguson is enjoying somewhat of a purple patch with three winners from his last six runners sent out from his Newmarket base and his Viadelamore looks interesting from top weight for his handicap debut in the 14:10.

From 79, he just sneaks into this 0-80, and he seemed to travel quite nicely on his final start in a Wolverhampton Novice behind Charlie Appleby's Symbol Of Light. The Godolphin horse has subsequently turned out to be be a smart performer and has won two since - including a Southwell 0-95 from a mark of 92. He won that by 2L too.

Viadelamore has been big prices in his three starts to date, including last time at a BSP of 28.0, but his price dipped down to 6.86/1 in-running behind the front-running Symbol Of Light who controlled it from the front, but Viadelamore churned out a series of consistent sub-13 second furlongs throughout in the even pace.

He made his debut in a hot Newmarket contest last summer, and wasn't quick enough for the company and the trip at 7f. He looks ready to go up to 1m2f today and has been gelded since his last outing, probably as he played up in the stalls.

The 6/1 appeals on him, especially as young Fergie is flying.

Hiss can take the prize off an ultra lenient mark

We should know our fate in the space of 40 minutes today, and hopefully we'll at least get a run with a Tim Easterby runner following the antics of Panama City last night. Looking at the close proximity of Hollis Brown in that race, he could have walked it!

Just Hiss for the Yorkshire trainer looks far too big in price considering he was running in much stronger company last spring.

The problem with the 9yo is that he hasn't won a race for ages - August 2020 in fact. But he has dropped a long way down the handicap, and from his prime mark in the 90s, he's got a massive chance from 67 today. A further reduction of 3lb from his seasonal reappearance gives him a chance in this sort of company.

He was poor last time, but it came in soft ground and he's better with a genuine good surface. I'm also subscribing to the fact that a few of Easterby's are needing the first run.

With eight runners, we can sneak the each-way double.
