Alan Dudman's search for a Sportsbook double heads to Goodwood for two of the ITV races this Saturday with the multiple paying [12/1]...

Saturday, Goodwood, 14:00 7f Handicap Tip: Back Forty Years On @ 9/43.25

Forty Years On has been seen just once this season, on good to soft ground at Newbury with a victory back in June.

One suspects that his trainer George Scott has had to wait for some rain as the overall profile looks more towards a horse who appreciates cut, in keeping with his sire Mayson.

It was a fairly devastating performance on the straight track over 7f at Newbury as he coasted along out the back and cut through the pack with a sharp turn of foot - running the final 3f far quicker than any other rival, and it was the start of that burst at the 3f marker when he produced the 11.08 second furlong.

With that speed, he should find himself at home at a track like Goodwood and it seems to be the feature of his performances as last term when so progressive he scooted away from a held up position with a fast final furlong.

Some rain will be most welcome for his chances and up to a mark of 96 will need a serious performance, but he was so impressive when last seen.

Saturday, Goodwood, 14:35 1m4f Handicap Tip: Back Too Soon @ 3/14.00

We're sticking towards the top of the market for both of the double races and multiple return at 12/113.00 is not a bad bit of business hopefully for horses that will appreciate conditions.

In fact, Too Soon is another who should enjoy some rain in Sussex, and if it starts chucking it down, it's a panorama that will gladden the eyes.

Too Soon won a handicap at Epsom at the Derby meeting earlier this season, over the Derby distance with young Warren Fentiman in the saddle.

He was pretty convincing with his stamina in that race and Fentiman was cute as he tacked across to the stands' side and the apprentice made his mark in the saddle with the team; as that was Fentiman's first ride for the Moores.

He traded around 17/118.00 in-running from a price of 17/29.50, I suspect when he was pushed at Tattenham Corner.

I cannot knock the form with the front two 5L clear of the third and Josh Moore said afterwards he loved the soft going and Fentiman, such a promising 3lb apprentice, keeps the mount.

Again, a selection that will need some wet weather.
