Ayr specialist Strong Economy is looking for his third win at the track on Monday, and his stamina could well be the key weapon for the new distance of 3m3f.

While rival Scoop The Pot is the only one is the field with winning form at the trip, Strong Economy certainly gave the impression last time that he will get every yard.

His latest win at the track was over 3m, and although the race fell into his lap, his stamina got him home well. There was also a big gap to third of 13L.

Heavy ground very much suits the 9yo, and with a hurdles rating of 110, there's scope from his mark.

Spencer to kid home Mekong in stayers' race

I'm looking forward to seeing Mekong run in the stayers' race at 18:10, as I've backed this horse a few times - notably when I was in attendance at Sandown in 2019, and of course he finished second. He can often save a little for himself in a finish.

But he's a handy horse who has been in some deep races in his time. He had no chance in the Ascot Gold Cup when last seen, so a nice break makes him an interesting horse for this Fast Track Qualifier.

He has form in a higher grade although he can be a bit quirky, so Jamie Spencer will have to be at his smuggling best to put the horse into the race from off the pace.

This will be his first run on Tapeta, but he has winning form at Chelmsford on the all-weather. He's by Frankel, who has a handy 17% strike-rate on the surface and a decent placed record too.
