"This looks his ideal trip and it perhaps doesn't look the strongest of Group 2 races."
No joy for Alan yesterday on the all-weather but he's in search of a winner or two out in Meydan for Thursday...
15:05 Meydan - Back Al Dabaran each-way Sportsbook @ 11/1
It's off to the sun with Meydan and no such inspection problems, and a bonus too with a 16-runner handicap. Although most of the field are Godolphin horses - in fact six of the top seven in the Sportsbook betting have the blue silks.
Initially Saqarra King caught my eye with an inside draw, but the mammoth absence of 530-days is a worry.
The 11/1 on Al Dabaran makes some appeal, although I am not too chuffed with the draw. But he's a good stayer with form in Group company. He finished third in a Bahrain Trophy once and also fared up well in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot.
It's not the easiest race to unpick but Al Dabaran is a very strong stayer and should enjoy a big field at pace and the long, sweeping straight to get going.
16:15 Meydan - Back Dubai Warrior @ 4.57/2
There was plenty of support for Dubai Warrior on the Sportsbook and I can understand with his profile as he switches to the dirt for this Group 2.
His record on the all-weather in Britain is most impressive - including success in the Winter Derby at Lingfield back in 2020. His style seems to suit the track there from the front, as he also landed the Listed Chruchill Stakes beating Sinjaari by a big margin.
This looks his ideal trip and it perhaps doesn't look the strongest of Group 2 races.
