Daafy showed a fair bit of ability on his handicap debut last time over the 1m at Southwell, and he looks a decent price to improve on that to win at 16:45.

That first run was a big jump forward on anything he had shown previously, and considering he missed the break and hung across to the far side, it was a decent effort. He travelled well too in a race where the sectional data indicated a fast-run affair.

He's by an interesting stallion for the surface, as The Factor has already had a winner and two placed horses from just five runners.

Time can hit the frame for in-form Tate

The prices on the Sportsbook yesterday evening had debutant Ghost Rider in as the 15/8 favourite - and when you are backing an unraced horse on the Fibresand, the sire's ability to throw up horses that act on the surface is crucial.

Ghost Rider is by Dark Angel who operates at a win rate of 15%.

However, I'd much rather have a go at the James Tate filly Time Frame. I thought she shaped well on her debut at Wolverhampton. She was green and the winner got a got ride in front, but Time Frame stayed on and should be a lot more clued up today.

Her sire Fountain Of Youth hasn't had a lot of runners at the track, and while the win strike-rate is modest with just 2-24, the placed percentage of 42% suggests they act on the sand.
