Lieutenant Highway is overpriced at Roscommon
Roseys Hollow is a very short-priced favourite in the opening novice chase at Roscommon and if turning up at her best then she will be tough to beat but her jumping and the quick ground (if the rain doesn't come sooner than forecast) are reasons why she may not be able to show her best and I think there's too much between her and the second favourite in the market.
That second favourite is Lieutenant Highway who made a respectable chasing debut at Ballinrobe when finishing fourth behind Hercule Du Seuil. The usual front running tactics weren't used as he raced in the main pack chasing the breakaway front running winner. His jumping lacked fluency at times but he made headway going down the back straight for the final time to be in third at three out but he made a mistake there and was soon left behind by the front pair.
In this small field, I'm hoping they will go back to the front running tactics that proved successful over hurdles as that could also put pressure on Roseys Hollow's jumping and it may allow Lieutenant Highway to get into a better rhythm with his own jumping.
There is a slight concern that he might need cheekpieces back on before showing his best over fences given they seemed to do the trick last season over hurdles but I think he has the ability to be more of a danger to Roseys Hollow than the market suggests under today's circumstances and any 9/43.25 or bigger appeals.
