Our resident tipster Rhys Williams has analysed Monday's racing and has three selections at Stratford and Taunton.

Taunton - 14:10 - Back Lord Of All Saints w/o fav

Inside Man is a very short-priced favourite for this junior hurdle on the back of two good performances. Rather than take him on, I think there's an appealing bet in the without the favourite market with a horse who finished behind him last time.

Lord Of All Saints was making his debut that day and his inexperience showed early on as he was very slow over the first but he recovered to race in the chasing pack behind Inside Man. He was hampered at the first down the back straight and moved smoothly into third soon after it. He still looked to be travelling fairly well turning the final bend in third but he couldn't pick up and faded into fourth late on.

I thought the manner in which he travelled for a long way suggested that Lord Of All Saints has some ability and he's likely to have come on for that run, both on the fitness front and mentally. It was also encouraging that he showed some aptitude for jumping, which is the concern with Dodger Long who showed a good level of ability in bumpers but jumped awfully at Chepstow on hurdling debut.

Given that worry and the promise that Lord Of All Saints showed on debut, I think he's overpriced in a race with very little depth in quality in the without the favourite market and any 8/19.00 or bigger appeals.

Taunton - 14:40 - Back Express Surprise

Byzantium and Siam Park dominate the market in this maiden hurdle but I'm not sure either has the most convincing profile. It was a race for future jumpers that Byzantium won on debut when trained by Alain Couetil and he won quite comfortably but that was a very weak contest, while I'm not sure the relative test of speed around this track will be ideal for Siam Park given he looked a bit short of speed in the closing stages at Wincanton last time.

They aren't up against particularly strong rivals either so it might be that they will have the race to themselves up front but at a big price, I think Express Surprise could improve on what he's shown so far under rules.

He started his career in the Irish pointing field and ran well on debut when a close second to subsequent dual bumper winner Bill Joyce.

Express Surprise's rules debut came at a time when the yard was very quiet and he ran respectably considering that to finish fifth, only fading quickly in the closing stages having been in contention three furlongs out.

It was a bit disappointing that he couldn't build on that last time on hurdling debut at Southwell but he lost a shoe so that could at least partly explain the performance.

It might be that he will be better over further and he has to show he can handle going right handed but I think he has the ability to be more competitive than the market suggests and any 14/115.00 or bigger appeals.

Stratford - 16:50 - Back Tambo's Troops

I think it's quite a strong bumper that closes the card at Stratford and I'm hoping that Tambo's Troops can build on the promise of his debut run in a point.

His jumping wasn't too fluent and he looked a little green on his debut at Tinahely but he was in third in a tightly-packed field turning out of the back straight. He made his challenge at two out and nearly got upsides Hawthorn Street but that rival had a bit more left in the closing stages and Tambo's Troop could only finish second.

I thought that was a promising debut given that he did things wrong and the horse that fell when upsides him at the last has since finished second on rules debut.

I think today's test is likely to suit Tambo's Troops and hopefully he will receive a typically positive ride for one from this yard. Any 5/16.00 or bigger appeals.
