Alan is backing two chasers on Doncaster's Friday card

"From a mark of 118, he's well treated in relation to his hurdles' form considering he ran in the Pertemps Final from 137 in 2019."

Back Oh Land Abloom @ 9.08/1 in the 14:52 at Doncaster

Alan Dudman looks at Friday's action at Doncaster and has a double figure priced selection...

Give another chance to Dex

14:17 Doncaster - Back Doctor Dex @ 12/1 each way

I put up Doctor Dex for the Ladbrokes Trophy meeting at Newbury in my previous stint, but he was pulled up early following a bad mistake at the fifth. That was a hot race, and after that complete no-show, he has been dropped a huge 5lb in one swipe.

Although the 14:17 looks a good race.

Doctor Dex ran well at two of the spring festivals at Aintree and Cheltenham in 2019, and he also won a decent novices' handicap at Ascot last term from 126. That was achieved in comfortable fashion and he saw out it very well on that occasion. So he's not a horse to totally desert.

I'll forgive the effort at Newbury, and it's encouraging he's out so quickly. With blinkers on for the first time and hopefully conditions to suit, as Doncaster tend to get a decent surface, he looks to have more of a chance than the 12/1 price on the Sportsbook suggests.

A blooming tasty price for veteran contest

14:52 Doncaster - Back Oh Land Abloom @ 9.08/1

Yesterday's selection Capard King got no further than the first fence, so I am hoping we last a bit longer with Oh Land Abloom and at least get some sort of run for our money. Hopefully, Capard King is none the worse fear, that's the main thing.

Today's selection lines up for a race with a lot going on in the title. It's a conditional jockeys contest for veteran horses, and a qualifier for this particular series too.

Oh Land Abloom produced one of his best efforts over fences at Huntingdon on his reappearance when finishing second to The Fresh Prince. The winner had a bit up his sleeve to win that and travelled like a superior horse, but it was a fair run. He couldn't back it up next time at Uttoxeter, but I am putting that down to the quick turnaround.

He likes to race up with the pace and acts well on good to soft, so there are no excuses on that front. Especially with the excellent Millie Wonnacott on board and her 3lb claim.

From a mark of 118, he's well treated in relation to his hurdles' form considering he ran in the Pertemps Final from 137 in 2019.
