Improved for increased test of stamina last time

Mount Olympus has always looked like he would need a thorough test of stamina to show his best but it was still surprising just how much he improved last time over when a novice race at this track over 1m6f.

Having raced in midfield in the chasing pack early on behind the runaway leader, he made headway to track the leader turning out of the back straight. He was shaken along with just over three furlongs to go and initially looked a shade awkward but he went to the front with two furlongs to go and quickly went a length clear when put under strong pressure. He continued to find for pressure in front and was always holding his nearest pursuers, coming home a length in front.

Mount Olympus was raised 18lb for that performance but races today off only an 8lb higher mark (6lb penalty and 2lb out of the handicap) and I think the extra two furlongs could bring more improvement from him too so I think he has a good chance of following up that win.

He encounters softer ground today but his action suggests that he may be fine under these conditions. He would have been a strong bet at the early double-figure prices and, although he's shortened in the market this morning, he still looks overpriced and any 6/1 or bigger appeals.
