Favourite Scheffler shortens again

McIlroy and Rahm come next in Betfair market

Betfair Exchange punters backed US Masters favourite Scottie Scheffler after he won the Players Championship on Sunday.
The American became the first golfer to retain the Players - which is regarded as the game's "fifth Major" - and bettors are increasingly confident that he will be the man to beat at Augusta (11-14 April).
Scheffler won the Masters in 2022, when he arrived at Augusta on a winning-streak, and he appears to be finding form at exactly the right moment to triumph again.
Bettors back Scheffler after consecutive wins
He shortened to 6.411/2 on the Exchange after his win at the Players where he justified pre-tournament favouritism.
Prior to that he was backed from 9.08/1 to 7.06/1 when he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational the weekend.
His nearest rivals in the betting are Rory McIlroy 14.013/1, who is aiming to end his 10-year Major title drought, and Jon Rahm 15.014/1.
Rahm won the Masters last year by four strokes and will be determined to keep the Green Jacket when he returns to Augusta next month.
Steve Rawlings has more on how the Players Championship has affected the Masters betting, with the latest on Xander Schauffele and others who will be of interest to bettors who wish to avoid the very top of the market.
In the coming weeks we will have more Masters betting updates as well as in-depth previews in the days before the tournament begins.
