Golf bettors think Rory McIlroy can end his eight-year wait for a fifth major title at next week's Open Championship.

Last month, McIlroy finished tied-fifth at the US Open having finished runner-up at the Masters in April. He won the Canadian Open and is pushing hard to claim his first major title since winning the Open at Royal Liverpool in 2014.

World number one Scottie Scheffler 16.5, who won the Masters this year, comes next in the betting at St Andrews while Spaniard Jon Rahm is 17.5.

Justin Thomas 23.022/1 and Matthew Fitzpatrick 24.023/1, who recently became the first Englishman to win the US Open for 52 years, are also prominent in the market on the Exchange.

Scheffler, Rahm, Thomas and Fitzpatrick will all be part of a strong field at this week's Scottish Open.

Collin Morkiawa, Xander Schauffle and many more PGA Tour stars will also be playing at the Renaissance Club event this week - the final tournament before The Open Championship - which starts this Thursday.

The Barbasol Championship, where Kevin Streelman is the favourite, is this week's other event.
