Sony Open in Hawaii 2026 - Contenders based on current form
Hideki Matsuyama @ 22/123.00
The Japanese golfer won the Hero World Challenge just over a month ago and is one to have onside at a venue where he was victorious in 2022. His best performance since then was last year's 16th so Matsuyama could be primed to have a crack at the Waialae leaderboard again.
JJ Spaun @ [22//1]
The American tied with Scottie Scheffler for fourth at the Hero and now looks forward to a tournament where he finished third last year and, prior to a missed cut in 2024, 12th in 2023. Spaun is setting his sights on a big year and victory here would be just the ticket.
Si Woo Kim @ 22/123.00
The Korean was tied for fourth at the Baycurrent Classic in November, making it three top tens on the PGA Tour for him in 2025, before coming third at the Australian Open on the DP World Tour in December - the last time we saw him. Now he begins 2026 at a tournament where he was victorious in 2023 and, while he will need to get over last year's missed cut, it would be no surprise to see Kim contending again.
Sony Open in Hawaii 2026 - Contenders based on course form
Russell Henley @ 12/113.00
The American is the pre-tournament favourite and his form at Waialae makes it easy to see why. He has finished in the top 10 in four of the past five editions of the tournament. Can he take the prize this year? He was 10th last year, fourth prior to that and his best ever performance was a second-placed finish in 2022.
Keegan Bradley @ 22/123.00
The defeated US Ryder Cup captain loves playing here, finishing sixth last year and second in 2024 and he will have the trophy within his sights this week. Last time out, he was a respectable 13th at the Hero so he arrives in reasonable nick.
Nico Echavarria @ 50/151.00
The Colombian is a big price to win at Waialae but his course form indicates that he could be one to take a chance on this week. He was the runner-up 12 months and 12th in 2023, so obviously has a feel for the venue.
