It's another two-tournament week on the PGA Tour.

While the elite of world golf go head-to-head at a lucrative match play tournament in Austin, Texas, other members of the Tour will be teeing-up on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola.

This week's Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic will once again be staged in the coastal province of La Altagracia.

First held in 2016, this will be the eighth edition of a tournament that has always been played at Corales Golf Club which sits on the eastern edge of this sizeable island.

For the first two instalments, the event was part of the Web.Com Tour (now sponsored by Korn Ferry), before being promoted to the top tier in 2018.

And it has remained part of the PGA Tour schedule ever since.

The 64 competitors taking part in the Dell Match Play event in Texas will each grab a share of its $20m prize fund.

Compare this to Corales where the players will compete in a tournament offering a total prize pot of $3.8m.

Course Characteristics

Designed by Tom Fazio and opened 13 years ago, there are six holes on which the dramatic Caribbean coastline comes into play.

Depending on weather conditions, half of the holes may be affected by the threat of water - although seven is probably a more realistic number.

The undulating fairways are fairly generous, and will offer golf's biggest hitters the chance to drive it long - especially if conditions are calm.

Putting surfaces are large and undulating and, like most coastal venues, the ability to scramble successfully will always come in handy if weather conditions deteriorate.

Four To Watch

Wyndham Clark: Collected his second top-10 of the year on Sunday when finishing fifth in Tampa.

Thomas Detry: The highest-ranked player teeing-up on Thursday. The Belgian is yet to win on the DP World Tour but that shouldn't rule him out from claiming a maiden PGA Tour victory in the Dominican Republic. Has competed at Corales in each of the last four years.

Cody Grible: Travels to the Caribbean on the back of two successive top-10 finishes. This includes a tie-for-seventh on the island of Puerto Rico three weeks ago.

Jhonattan Vegas: Tied-fourth at Corales last year. The powerful 38-year-old Venezuelan will be chasing a fourth PGA Tour title this week - and his first for nearly six years.
