The Punter's Preview: Bank on Bernd @ 89/190.00

Steve Rawlings: I have already got one man onside in the win market - the in-form Austrian, Bernd Wiesberger.

Having taken the very early 120.0119/1 available on the Betfair Exchange, I was hoping Wiesberger would continue to trade at a triple-figure price so he could be a selection for the Find Me a 100 Winner column but it's perfectly understandable that the higher prices are long gone.

Since winning the China Open at the end of April, Wiesberger has been placed three times on the DP World Tour, finishing fourth in his national Open at the end of May, third in the BMW International in July and fourth last week at the European Masters, despite sitting tied for 56^th at halfway.

Wiesberger won the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in 2009, and he's finished second at this event at two different classic links layouts - Royal County Down in 2015 and Lahinch in 2019.

Now 40, the nine-time DP World Tour winner is clearly enjoying his golf again after a barren spell and after rounds of 63 and 64 over the weekend at Crans, he's still a fair price this week at odds of around 90/191.00.

First Round Leader Picks: In form Lindell can start fast

Dave Tindall: Oliver Lindell has opened with a round in the 60s in each of his last eight starts which is some going.

In the last five he's had first-round positions of 4th, 6th and 8th and that's helped fuel a great run of results which show two second places among five top 15s in his latest six events.

The Finn has also made an impression on Irish soil.

He was eighth after 18 holes when seventh in this event last year while in 2024 an opening 68 helped him to 11th at the Irish Challenge.

The Finn hits his first tee shot at 12:35.

Long Odds Tips: Big-price Norris chanced to bounce back to form

Steve Rawlings: After he'd hacked up by five strokes in the Mizuno Open to claim his ninth Japan Tour victory in June, Shaun Norris put up disappointing form figures reading MC-38-36-53. His last three outings since have yielded a 25^th in the SunBet Challenge - Wingate Park in his native South Africa, a seventh place finish in the aforementioned Nexo Championship, and a 62^nd place finish in the British Masters last time out. He played better at all three events than those finishes suggest.

He led after round one in South Africa, led by two with just 18 to play at the Nexo in Scotland and was sitting third at the halfway stage of the British Masters two weeks ago.

Prior to his victory in Japan, Norris had finished fourth at the China Open, sixth in The Crowns (on the Japan Tour) and second in the Catalunya Championship, so he's been in fair form throughout 2026. Odds in excess of 200/1201.00 look more than fair for someone who should enjoy the venue.
