Steve Rawlings has two triple-figure priced selections on the PGA Tour and two on the DP World Tour

Both this week's events have seen more than their fair share of long-shot winners so I've got two selections in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour, where nine of the last 12 winners have being matched at a triple-figure price before the off and two in the Soudal Open on the DP World Tour, where the last three winners have gone off at a triple-figure price.

I'll start in Texas, where I've backed a pair of long-shots with course form in the bag, starting with South Africa's Erik Van Rooyen.

CJ Cup Byron Nelson bet #1 - Erik Van Rooyen @ 300.0299/1

Korea's K.H Lee, who won the event back-to-back in 2021 and 2022, is so badly out of form that he's trading at 1000.0999/1 to claim the title for a third time but he does demonstrate that having previous course form in the bank is notable here and that's one of the reasons I like my first pick, Erik Van Rooyen, who after two missed cuts at TPC Craig Ranch, chased home last year's runaway winner, Scottie Scheffler.

Given he won the World Wide Technology Championship in 2023 in 27-under-par, and that all his wins across various Tours have been in low scoring affairs, it's no surprise to see that this birdie-fest suits him.

His current form figures read a somewhat uninspiring 48-59-17-38 but he had current form figures reading MC-62-MC-MC before he finished second last year and that's far from the only time that he's performed well when seemingly out of form.

He also finished second in the 3M Open last year on the back of current form figures reading MC-MC-78-MC and although he was in better form when he won in Mexico, with recent numbers reading 16-3-16-23, he won his first title on the PGA Tour, the 2021 Barracuda Championship, having missed six of his previous eight cuts and one week after he'd finished only 58th in the 3M Open.

He's shortened up form a high of 530.0529/1 but he's still a very fair price at 300.0299/1.

CJ Cup Byron Nelson bet #2 - Carson Young @ 490.0489/1

In contrast to Van Rooyen, my second selection, Carson Young, has drifted in the market from a low of 280.0279/1 out to odds approaching 500/1501.00 and that looks huge for someone that was leading with a round to go last week on the Korn Ferry Tour, and who already has course form in the bank.

Young, who won on the Korn Ferry Tour back in 2022, was tied for the lead at last week's Colonial Life Charity Classic after he posted the lowest round of the day on Saturday (seven-under-par 63) but a level par 70 on Sunday saw him slip to a tie for seventh.

He needs to pick himself up after that disappointment but, as demonstrated by his form at the aforementioned World Wide Technology event over the last three years, reading 9-2-6, and his fifth-place finish in last year's John Deere Classic, this low scoring type of affair suits him nicely.

He missed the cut here last year but that was his third weekend off in-a-row so he was out of form at the time and prior to that he finished 14th on debut in 2023 and 31st in 2024, so he does have a bit of course form in the bank already.

Place order to lay 8 Us @ 10.09/1 and 12 Us @ 2.01/1

Soudal Open bet #1 - Jorge Campillo @ 110.0109/1

I did manage to back last year's fourth, Thriston Lawrence, at 100.099/1 on Monday but as he's shortened up to around 80/181.00 he can't be a selection for the column.

He's been a bit out of form since finishing sixth in the Hainan Classic in March, but he finished fourth last year after a run of six missed cuts in-a-row so the tree-lined host course, Rinkven, clearly suits him, as it does my first pick, Jorge Campillo.

As highlighted in the preview, Rinkven appears to correlate very nicely with the two venues used for the Kenya Open, Muthaiga and Keren Country Club, as well as the usual venue for the BMW International Open, Golfclub München Eichenried, and Campillo has form at them all, as well as here at Rinkven.

He won the Kenya Open at Muthaiga three years ago and he finished 18th at Karen in February. He's made it through to the weekend on his last seven visits to München Eichenried, with the highlight being his third place there in 2021, and he made it through to the quarter-finals of the Belgian Knockout at Rinkven, losing to the eventual winner, Adrian Otaegui, after he'd led the stroke play aspect of the event after posting back-to-back four-under-par 67s.

He's missed his last two cuts here, but he also finished 15th here in 2022 in the now familiar 72 hole stroke play format, when he sat sixth at halfway.

Campillo comes into the event in only ordinary form with his 25th in Catalunya last time out and his 20th at the Indian Open sandwiching a pair of missed cuts but he finished second in the Hainan Classic before that and he looks worth chancing at a triple-figure price.

Place order to lay 8 Us @ 10.09/1 and 12 Us @ 2.01/1

Soudal Open bet #2 - Angel Hidalgo @ 220.0219/1

Both Lawrence and Campillo missed out on qualifying for the US Open at Walton Heath on Monday and that could be construed as a negative but my second column pick, Angel Hidalgo, will be lining up at Shinnecock next month after rounds of 62 and 71 saw him finished tied for third behind Nathan Kimsey.

That 62 around the New Course in round one was a great knock that suggests he could be ready to win on the DP World Tour again, having first tasted success in his national title, the Open de Espana, which he won at the intricate tree-lined layout of Club de Campo Villa de Madrid two years ago, when he beat Jon Rahm in a playoff.

Hidalgo has played here four times previously, finishing 15th twice, 22nd and 49th, and whilst they're not spectacular results, they're not bad for someone with only 15 top 20 finishes from 95 starts on the DP World Tour.

He's an in-and-out performer with lots of missed cuts to his name but it looks like this place may suit him, he played nicely on Monday, and the fact that he was able to beat Rahm to win his national tells us all we need to know about his mettle should he contend.
