Cadillac Championship weather forecast for Thursday
It's a sunny day in Miami with temperatures starting at 80 degrees and peaking at 90.
Just 72 players tee it up but they're spread out in two-balls going off every 10 minutes: first group 08:40, last 14:55.
That's relevant as wind speeds pick up throughout the day. They start at 5mph but rise to 15mph by 3pm.
With conditions calm early on, a morning tee-time looks advantageous and Pierceson Coody hits off in the seventh group out at 09:45.
The youngster has cashed in when heading out after breakfast as he ranks 2nd for Early Round 1 Scoring Average this season. In six morning starts he averages a highly-impressive 66.67.
So far in 2026 he was the first-round leader at The American Express via a 62 while he also has FRL positions of third, fourth and seventh.
The fourth came on his last start in Florida, March's Valspar Championship, which bodes well for his course debut here.
Also fourth after 18 holes of the 2023 Honda Classic, his big hitting looks suited to The Blue Monster course and he has some confidence after finishing 16th at Hilton Head last time out.

With a tee-time of 11:00, Adam Scott should get most of his round in before the winds get testy.
While plenty in this field have either never played The Blue Monster or struggled on it, the Aussie will be relishing a return.
Scott won the last WGC-Cadillac Championship held there in 2016 and that added to finishes of third, fourth, sixth and ninth.
In terms of good starts, he was first-round leader in 2012 and has also ended day one in fourth place twice and in eighth twice.
A more recent look at his FRL form shows Scott in sixth place after 18 holes at Bay Hill last month while he's shot in the 60s in seven of his last 10 openers.

At over 7,700 yards, The Blue Monster is the second longest course on the PGA Tour.
The longest is Torrey Pines South where Harris English won two years ago and the American has great history on tough tracks when the yardage can look eye-popping.
English has played in two WGC-Cadillac Championships here, finishing 10th and 16th, and in the first of those he was second after Thursday's play.
We last saw him finishing a season's best fourth at the RBC Heritage and that was fuelled by a first-round 64 which put him second on the R1 leaderboard.
Also ninth after day one at Bay Hill this year, English has some strong credentials to thrive from his 10:15 tee-time.
Scott and English are ranked 19th and 41st respectively for Early Round 1 Scoring Average by the way.
