Peter Jepsen targeted by scammers!

Betfair sponsored pro, Peter 'Zupp' Jepsen was recently one of many targets of a scam designed to obtain login details for their poker client.

Jepsen was recently contact via Microsoft's Instant Messenger service, MSN, by someone who he believed to have known but later found out this person had had their account compromised and was in the hands of one of the scammers.

During his MSN conversation with his "friend", Jepsen talked about Pot-limit Omaha amongst other subjects as he usually would with people he knows but halfway through the conversation he was asked to look at a video clip of a hand between Tom 'Durrrrr' Dwan and Luke 'FullFlush' Schwartz.

His "friend" then sent him a link to a site, which Jepsen agreed looked very professional and like a true site. It contained a login area, forum, strategy articles and poker related videos but alarm bells started ringing when he tried to download the said video and was prompted to install the latest version of Flash.

He knew 100% that his Flash was the very latest version and grew ever more suspicious when the upgrade was hosted locally on the site and was not coming from Flash developers, Adobe.

After cancelling the download, Jepsen decided to investigate his findings by asking a friend of his, who works for the Police IT department, to have a look at the site to see if he could find anything untoward on the site in question. His friends findings were shocking.

According to his IT expert friend, the site was indeed a scam and contain a backdoor trojan, which in turn would likely install a key-logger which would record the victim's login details and send them back to the originator.

Jepsen quickly alerted his fellow high stakes peers by making a post on the popular Two Plus Two forums so that the players there would not fall for this elaborate scam and possibly lose their bankrolls.

The site in question is called Poker Pro Albums.com so obviously do not visit the site but if you have and have downloaded any of the content there you should get a friend to change your poker and email passwords from their clean machine and reformat your own machine to rid it of any trojan software.
