Since I've been successfully betting on Betfair for a while it's great that I can now also satisfy my GSOP appetite on the new Betfair Poker 2.
Despite his poker alias being slang for 'extremely scared or frightened', an Austria-based Betfair player showed no signs of nerves when landing the $25,000 GTD PLO Hi/Lo (GSOP Event 4) on Thursday evening winning not only a cool $8.5k but also a $5,000 ticket for the Grand Slam of Poker Final.
We caught up with happy winner shortly after his success at a final table of nine which saw no less than five Betfair players take their seats. Congratulations and commiserations to MondSpieler and MaryVecks who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively as well as __dp__ (6th) and Ballerp0ker (8th).
Betfair Poker: Congratulations from the Betfair Poker Team on taking down the $25,000 GTD PLO Hi/Lo GSOP Event 4! You have won $8,576 in cash plus a $5,000 ticket for the Grand Slam Final. How special is this to you?
Ishatbricks: Thanks a lot - it's very special, particularly as there have been really good Betfair players involved at the final table. This prize is the biggest I've won so far both online and offline. You can imagine I'm very happy.
Betfair Poker: Are you a regular online tournament player?
Ishatbricks: I'm normally playing Shorthanded No Limit cash games and PLO Hi/Lo at mid stake levels. As regards tournaments the GSOP has always been a must-play in my poker calendar. Since I've been successfully betting on Betfair for a while it's great that I can now also satisfy my GSOP appetite on the new Betfair Poker 2.
Betfair Poker: I'm sure you've heard about the Betfair GSOP Hat Trick Promotion - we give away $1,000,000 to the player who manages to win 3 of the 15 GSOP events on Betfair or a $100,000 sponsorship deal, if it's just 3 times the top 3. Now you've made the first step, are you going for the million?
Ishatbricks: Of course I know about this and maybe I would even have had a good chance, especially in the next Shorthanded GSOP events. No doubt I would have loved to play more, however, we're heading off to New York for ten days at the weekend. This is a long planned holiday and my girlfriend would probably kill me if I say I'd rather play poker (laughing)...
Betfair Poker: That's a pity. Do you have an idea what you would do with $1,000,000?
Ishatbricks: I would buy nice cars - an Audi TT for sure - and probably an appartment or two in a nice place. That would make my girlfriend happy as well.
Betfair Poker: Now it's not a million but still a notable prize you have won. Do you have plans for spending that money?
Ishatbricks: As I've just finished my studies in Renewable Energies some additional money is always welcome. A part of it will definitely be spent during our New York trip. Another part will be invested in poker tournaments and it will hopefully proliferate.
Betfair Poker: By the way you're living in Vienna and that will be one of our next Betfair Poker LIVE! tour stops in December...
Ishatbricks: Great, I'm definitely in!
Betfair Poker: Looking forward to meeting you in Vienna then. Have a great trip to New York and - once you're back - always good luck with your bets and at the Betfair Poker tables!
