Ravn already has some very impressive results on his poker CV and he will be looking to add the title of EPT Copenhagen champion to those by the time play draws to a close today

The EPT Copenhagen Main Event reached its final table yesterday after the 24 players who returned to their seats in the Casino Copenhagen in the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel were reduced to the final eight competitors after a little over seven hours of play. The man who starts first in chips, with a stack of 2,458,000, is Norway's Aage Ravn.

Ravn already has some very impressive results on his poker CV and he will be looking to add the title of EPT Copenhagen champion to those by the time play draws to a close today. Ravn's first major score came back in 2007 when he won a €2,000 side event at this very casino for a score of €31,845. His largest win came three years later when he finished sixth in the $10,000 buy-in PCA for a cool $450,000. Ravn is friends with high stakes pro Johnny Lodden who has been railing him at various points in this tournament.

The Norwegian's closest rivals, are Bjarke Hansen, Mickey Petersen and Jacob Rasmussen. Hansen, who has been sporting a very fetching Betfair Poker hoody throughout this event, has shown he is more than capable of mixing things up and could be a good outside bet to take down this tournament.

Rasmussen is a high-stakes online cash game pro who also happens to have more than $330,000 in live tournament winnings to his name. The Dane reached the final table of the 2007 EPT Dortmund Main Event before busting out in fifth place but more recently he win the €5,000 Heads-Up event at the Partouche Poker Tour so is one to watch if he reaches the finale of this final table.

Petersen, better known to the online contingent as "mement_mori," is this writer's tip for the win simply because it would make a fantastic story due to his epic comeback. On Day 3 the young Dane found himself down to just 7,300 chips with blinds at 2,000/4,000/500a and now he has reached the final table with a stack of 1,205,000. Although Petersen has a number of live cashes to his name he is still to reproduce his amazing online tournament results in the live arena. Could this be his breakthrough?

Making up the final eight are the 69-year old Belgian Pierre Neuville (908,000), Dutchman Niels van Alphen (644,000) and the American duo Spencer Hudson (447,000) and Steve O'Dwyer (453,000).

Play resumes at 1200 CET and will continue until a champion is crowned. Each of the final table members has now locked up DKK191,400 (£21,800) but the eventual winner will walk away with the huge DKK2,515,000 (£287,000) first place prize. Who will that be? Check out these very pages tomorrow to find out!
