Dermot Weld
"Weld, who trained Unnaccompanied to win the race a year previously, stated that Hisaabaat had been has been very consistent and was given a lovely ride by his jockey."
The Dermot Weld-trained Hisaabaat opened his account over hurdles at the fifth time of asking with success in the Grade 1 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday.
The Dr Ronan Lambe-owned four-year-old, who was runner-up in his previous three outings and went into the race with a Timeform master rating of 125, was galvanised by first-time blinkers to take the 12-runner Grade 1 event.
Taking over after jumping the last obstacle, the [12.5] chance found more for Andrew Lynch to repel the Gordon Elliott-trained Shadow Catcher, who made a mistake at that final hurdle.
The winnning margin was a length and a half, with John Quinn's consistent Timeform 133-rated Countrywide Flame a further length and a half back in third.
In the aftermath, Weld, who trained Unnaccompanied to win the race a year previously, stated that Hisaabaat had been has been very consistent and was given a lovely ride by his jockey.
Weld also said that although the horse had taken his time to get his act together over hurdles, he had shone in a schooling session recently and the trainer will now be looking seriously at the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham next month.
Hisaabaat is now [19.0] for the juvenile showpiece, and he promises to be well suited by the strong pace that is usually evident in that race.
