Long Run will next be seen in the Betfair Denman Chase.
Long Run will look to take in the Betfair Denman Chase at Newbury next month ahead of the defence of his Cheltenham Gold Cup Crown...
Connections of the top-class Long Run, rated 182 by Timeform, have had this race in mind as a "prep" run for the seven year-old since he was defeated by Kauto Star for the second time this season in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Trainer Nicky Henderson has stated that he would like to get another run into Long Run before the Gold Cup on March 16, and the Betfair Denman Chase looks the ideal stepping stone.
The Robert Waley-Cohen-owned gelding narrowed the deficit between himself and Kauto Star from Haydock in the Betfair Chase to Kempton, and connections are hopeful that, with the Newbury run under his belt, Long Run will be in peak condition to defend his Cheltenham crown.
