It was good to get back on track yesterday with a decent winner. This is a really good week, but the weather is not playing its part. I am hoping that the we get better weather and that we don't get any more rain for the Nassau Stakes on Saturday. Friday is another great day at Goodwood with three pattern races on a seven race card.

Rakaan (4.00) was third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot behind the very smart two year-old Canford Cliffs and Wednesday's Goodwood winner Xtension. Now the form can be further franked by Brian Meehan's two- year-old son of Bahamian Bounty. Jamie Spencer takes the ride, having had a good win on Wednesday. The form is rock solid and a Rakaan win will only advertise the credentials of Canford Cliffs, who Richard Hughes says is simply awesome. Rakaan should win and I will certainly be cheering him on.

As I have said many times before, I really like class droppers and Penny's Gift (5.10) fits that bill very nicely in the Oak Tree Stakes. She was beaten seven lengths in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, but that was a group one having previously ran with credit in the 1000 Guineas. That is the best form on offer and the drop in class should see Richard Hannon's filly back in the winner's enclosure. Richard Hughes takes the ride, which hopefully will be a winning one.
