Keep it simple and keep an eye on the going reports today, says Carl Harris as he weighs up an Autumn afternoon's racing...

It's another Tuesday, and it's more pretty ordinary racing, to say the least. The rain has arrived which will nicely alter the ground from summer flat to winter jumping going. It is all flat racing on Tuesday with cards at Leicester, Folkstone and Catterick. My primary message today is caution, ensure that the going is not significantly altered and remember the old adage, if in doubt, leave it!

On the Piste (3:00) was a good winner last time out at Redcar for a relatively new trainer who took over stewardship of the two-year-old from Paul Midgley. Her first run for the stable was at Southwell, a surface she clearly hated and is unlikely to ever run there again. She confirmed the dislike for the fibres and by winning when back on turf and though up five pounds in the weights she looks the clear choice in a poor race.

James Hetherton has returned to the training ranks and has a decent sort in Simple Jim (5.00) who is not one to win by a wide margin, having won by a neck and a head on his last two starts. The hat-trick is on the cards with regular pilot, the excellent Silvester De Sousa in the plate. With the exception of Simple Jim winning form is thin on the ground and with only three pounds more to contend with I like the look of Simple Jim today.
