They've come from far flung islands for today's impressive midweek racing programme. But who will Carl Harris 'ave a bet on?

With my eye firmly on the York weather, I can report that Tuesday was a dry and warm day and with more of the same there is a good chance we will see Sea The Stars turn up for the International next week. I am desperate to see this great champion run in what I consider one of the best races of the season. Sometimes midweek racing is a struggle, with quality races few and far between, but there is an excellent fillies listed contest at Salisbury with a prize so attractive it has even attracted a runner from Cyprus. I think that we are better sticking with home contenders though.

Ave (4.05) is the one to be on in the fillies listed contest at Salisbury which is a very decent prize to win. Sir Michael Stoute, Champion Trainer elect, and Ryan Moore, Champion Jockey elect, have had a great season and are in tremendous form ahead of a big week at York and can win this with the three year-old Danehill Dancer filly. She put up a good performance when finishing second to High Heeled at York, who is a class filly, and a reproduction of that will see her home. The three year-olds have the edge in what looks a competitive race, which even features a runner from Cyprus, who could be anything. I will stick with Ave to frank the York form.

Wood Fairy (6.55), a once raced filly makes her handicap debut after a very good maiden win first time out for the excellent Richard Fahey team. Given a mark of 72 you get the feeling from watching her win at Thirsk that there is more to come. As well as, in my view, being well handicapped she gets a handy three-year-old weight allowance and it will be tough for Honimiere who has to cope with a 13 pounds rise in the weights in her bid for a fourth win in five starts. At the weights I think Wood Fairy is the best bet of the day.
