Gordon Elliott: Two runners at Naas on Sunday
"Our Girl Salley looks the one to beat here but we are in with a decent shout and hope to give the favourite a good run for her money."
On a quiet weekend for Gordon Elliott, the Cullentra House trainer has just two runners at Naas on Sunday afternoon...
13.05 Naas - Mount Benbulben
He was pulled up in the Topaz Novice Chase at Leopardstown recently so this is very much a fact-finding mission to see where he is at right now. As I said before, he has a good engine but he's prone to errors and he made a bad enough blunder last time at the eighth and couldn't go anywhere after that. He's back down to two miles which probably isn't ideal - but if he puts in a clear round of jumping and gets some confidence back here I'll be happy enough as he had shown good form previously to win a beginners chase at Fairyhouse.
14.35 Naas - Mae's Choice
She jumps well and is in good form at home so we'd be hopeful she can run a nice race here. She didn't set the world alight at Cork last month in a novice chase but she showed a bit more sparkle when fifth in a grade three hurdle at Leopardstown over the Christmas Festival, won by Willie Mullins' Zuzka. Our Girl Salley looks the one to beat here but we are in with a decent shout and hope to give the favourite a good run for her money.
