Jessies Dream is out for the season
"I’m disappointed for his owner, Mr Johnson, and, of course, for the stable but the end of the season is closing in fast and Jessies Dream too good a horse to rush back."
Gordon Elliott has some disappointing news to report about one of his top runners...
Unfortunately Jessies Dream is going to be out for the rest of the season. We thought we had him right and we were really looking forward to getting him back on track in the Hennessy on Sunday but, as I mentioned during the week, he didn't sparkle in his last piece of work on Wednesday and it has since transpired that he picked up a knock.
It's a big blow to the stable but that's racing and, unfortunately, these things will happen. I'm disappointed for his owner, Mr Johnson, and, of course, for the stable but the end of the season is closing in fast and he's too good a horse to rush back.
For the sake of the horse himself, I prefer to take my time with him and hope to be able to get him back fit and well for next season. He's only a nine-year-old so he has a bit of time and hopefully we'll have more big days with him next year.
