Peter Chapple-Hyam has a horse in Catskill Mountain that could bring him plenty of joy next season. And you punters are advised to keep an eye on him, say Timeform.

Peter Chapple-Hyam may not have had the best of years but he has a horse to look forward to in 2009 in the shape of Catskill Mountain who ran out an impressive winner on his debut at Newmarket on Friday.

The sturdy gelding may have been a late newcomer but there was nothing immature about his performance as he quickened well twice from Swiss Diva, firstly to cover her pressing move in the final furlong and then striding clear from her in the finish, value for more than the official winning margin of a length and a half.

He's got plenty more to give, looking listed class at the very least, and although there's some stamina on the dam's side he strikes as an out-and-out sprinter.
