Breeders' Cup Classic winner pipped to the crown by BC Mile victor
Timeform's post-Breeders Cup ratings see Saturday's Mile winner Goldikova (on 132) retain her position as the best older horse in the world, 1lb ahead of Classic heroine Zenyatta (131) and a further 1lb ahead of Turf winner Conduit (130).
Goldikova is therefore rated 8lb behind Timeform's current leading performer of 2009, three-year-old Sea The Stars, who is on a mark of 140. Rachel Alexandra, the other contender for First Lady of American racing, is rated on 129.
Kieran Packman, Timeform's Communications Manager, commented: "Goldikova stood out on ratings prior to Saturday and didn't need to run to her best to become the fourth horse to complete a double in the Mile. Her stand out effort of the year remains her Jacques Le Marois romp in August.
"Zenyatta undoubtedly won in very impressive fashion to post a career-best figure of 131, with Twice Over, who fared best of the European challenge, himself running to a career-high of 127 in third."

When did the world get taken over by you clowns with numbers ? If you think Goldikova or Sea The Stars could defeat Zenyatta, you should not be allowed to even HAVE an opinion. You folks cloud the issue something less than useless information. At least useless information IS information as opposed to this line of BS.

Totally agree with Paul. Before the race her 'Beyer's' were just not good enough. Some things you can't put a number on and that mare destroyed that Classic field. She gave them a 15 length start, finished like a train, passed Twice Over with ease, ears pricked, very little sweat and was still on her toes going into the winners circle.

For my money Ouija Board and Zarkava are better than all of them -- and I love Goldikova, as do many, many Americans, but she's not better than Zenyatta. The weight given to Goldikova at 8 furlongs and the weight given to Zenyatta at 10 furlongs is meaningless. Zenyatta did what I didn't think she would do -- show that she was among the very elite horses of the world at the Classic distance. And what if she actually ran?
Didn't Timeform screw up Zarkava last year or was it just the International Federation of Fools? Curlin could not have stayed in Zarkava's slipstream in 08.
As for Sea The Stars and Zenyatta, probably Sea The Stars, based on the number of gears he has; but he lacks the power of Zenyatta. Sea The Stars is an athlete, Zenyatta is a freight train. But what would my little Zarkava do?
