We've rounded up all of Mr Shiambouros' suggestions from last week. How did he do?

I rarely play in these kind of races but in the 12.40 at Catterick, Monash Lad should really handle this lot quite easily and the last price I saw was [2.08]. I think he could be even shorter at post time so I have taken a price now and may go in again closer to the off. He thrashed a similar field last time out and I do not see any reason why he should not repeat his effort today.

In the 2.20 at Wolverhampton, Carlton Scroop is a horse I am laying in this heat. He has all ready been matched at [2.54] and was up to [3.3] which is my limit to lay. I think he has legitimate competition in this heat from horses like the veteran Nimello so hopefully I can get matched in this weak race.

Daily View - January 18th

With the weather playing havoc with the fixtures I am going to the 3.30 at Southwell for an interesting heat.

It's a tricky affair but at the current prices of [5.2] for the win and [2.36] for the place I will be backing Jord.

My Mentor will be very short as favourite but has something to prove and at the current [2.38] for the win I am not interested at all. Jord does have a course win to his name and if he can get loose on the lead this one could be all over.

Daily View - January 16th

I'm not massively inspired by Wednesay's racing so there's just the one selection for you.

At Lingfield today I really like the profile of Sands Crooner in the 3.55.

I think this Imperial Ballet gelding is 2lb better here than anywhere else but has put up two really solid efforts on the Poly at Wolverhampton. This guy is always played late so if you bet in-running you probably can make a point at the start.

The favourite Smokin Beau is bound to be over bet due to the presence of Kirsty Milczarek and will offer little value in this competitive heat.

Daily View - January 15th

In the 4.10 at Kempton, Mujamead has the look of a horse that certainly has some upside to him. This comment hardly applies to the rest of the field who in this weak race have been largely disappointing in recent times. I will be backing Mujamead for the win and I suspect this horse could be gambled so I will try to secure an early price given the jockey booking of KM. Let's hope this horse can translate some of his form over obstacles to the Poly.

Taikoo is my choice in what appears to be a match race at Southwell between the choice and Be Free who will be trying to win any kind of maiden before a probable retirement to the paddocks - unless she shows huge improvement. Taikoo has all the form it needs to take this easily and really should win this well. Be Free may be gambled due to the aforementioned facts so I am going to wait until post time to back the choice.

May I take the opportunity to thank everybody for the wonderful support regarding the 80/20 and as announced it will continue as a daily service. Your response has really been overwhelming and it is greatly appreciated.

So, welcome to my new daily service where I will share my thoughts on the day's racing with specific selections. This new service will be kept simple and easy to explain with no complex betting suggestions or strategies.

I do like the look of Jim Bobs Girl in the 2.30 at Plumpton. Alison Thorpe paid 7,000gns for this one last October and it went on to run a cracking second at Warwick on the last day of December making the favourite fight all the way to the line on debut for the trainer. This race has no strength in depth and I will be backing this one for the win for her astute trainer.

Over at Fakenham I will be on Backstage for the win in the 1.50. He should be a reasonable price because the Pipe-trained Sainte Kadette is sure to be short given he'll try to make all around this bull ring to make full use of his speed. Backstage has some decent form in the book and last time out he just got beaten by a whisker in handicap company by Dhehdah at Leicester. I think Sainte Kadette is vulnerable so it is left to Backstage for the win.
