ENJOY JUNIOR RUGBY WITH TADLEY TIGERS FILLIES' HANDICAP (4)
Despite a relatively steady pace this mile-and-a-quarter handicap for three-year-old fillies strikes very much a race to keep an eye on, several among them remaining open to improvement, the following three arguably those with the most potential...
"AKINOSHIRABE finished fifth, but arguably shaped second best on the day, having been left with nowhere to go when staying on strongly inside the final furlong"
The winner, SEA OF HEARTBREAK, showed useful form to complete a four-timer, the three latest of which were in handicaps, winning with something to spare having travelled well through the race and extricated herself from potential trouble in running two furlongs out. Up 7 lb for this success, she remains with potential in handicaps off a mark of 92, though looks well worth a crack at listed level.
HEAVENLY DAWN is a sister to a pair of smart performers, and continued her own gradual improvement to finish two and a quarter lengths behind the winner in fourth. Her sister Heaven Sent showed her best form from around a mile to nine furlongs, and it could well be that Heavenly Dawn will benefit from a step back to those sorts of trips given how she shaped here, not staying on quite as strongly as some of those that finished around her. She remains open to improvement.
AKINOSHIRABE finished fifth, but arguably shaped second best on the day, having been left with nowhere to go when staying on strongly inside the final furlong. A well-bred filly who showed an excellent attitude when winning her maiden at Newcastle the time before, there are definitely races to be won with Akinoshirabe off a mark of 80, either at this trip or up at a mile and a half.
