Timeform looks at a maiden in which several juveniles made encouraging debuts...
"Frankel will peak over middle distances next year, and is an exciting prospect"
Some very well-bred newcomers made their debuts in this intriguing maiden, and even if some didn't fire in the testing conditions, it's certainly best to take a highly positive view of the form, the first two in particular looking very smart prospects.
The winner was Frankel, who has a good pedigree, and has clearly inherited plenty of ability. He created a very good impression starting out, travelling comfortably off the pace and making easy headway to join the runner-up, his rider not needing to go for his whip to get the better of that one as the pair pulled clear. This was a highly promising debut, and he's bound to improve, looking sure to be competing in some of the Group races he's entered in by the end of the season. Frankel will peak over middle distances next year, and is an exciting prospect.
Runner-up Nathaniel is a very well-bred colt, with Playful Act and Percussionist among his close relatives. A maiden win should be a formality for him, as he showed a useful level of form on debut, just unfortunate to bump into another highly-promising debutant. He stuck to his task well to finish half-a-length behind Frankel, coming five lengths clear of the remainder. Nathaniel has plenty of improvement in him, and has the potential to make up into a very smart middle-distance performer next year.
Genius Beast is the first offspring of Irish Oaks winner Shawanda, and he made an encouraging debut. His inexperience was evident as he drifted away from a right-hand drive, sticking on well even so to finish third. He looks sure to progress with this run behind him, and ought to win a maiden before long.
Elrasheed finished seventh, but ran with some promise on debut, never able to get on terms due to greenness and spared a hard ride. A half-brother to smart stayer Akmal, Elrasheed should improve with time, and is sure to step up with this run under his belt.
Eighth-home Man Of God boasts a very good pedigree, and ran a satisfactory race on debut given his greenness. He is sure to improve, and should be watched closely on his next start.
