Shergar gives his name to the jockeys' event that takes place at Ascot on Saturday
Timeform look at the horseracing week ahead.
"Racing comes alive again on Saturday, with the Shergar Cup at Ascot sure to attract plenty of interest."
Chester and Newbury host Flat meetings on Sunday and there's jumps at Market Rasen, with the first-named track providing the highlight in the form of the listed Queensferry Stakes over six furlongs (3.30), where last year's winner Doncaster Rover heads the Timeform ratings but has a much tougher draw to overcome this time around.
It's also worth keeping an eye out for the action in France on Sunday, with Goldikova going for a hat-trick of wins in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville. The star mare's biggest threat is likely to come from Mick Channon's Falmouth winner Music Show.
There's not much to say about the mid-week action, mundane in comparison to the recent Goodwood and Galway Festivals, but the racing comes alive again on Saturday, with the Shergar Cup at Ascot sure to attract plenty of interest. The Shergar Cup is Britain's only jockeys' competition and, this year, four sets of colours have been designed to distinguish the riders representing the teams of Britain, Ireland, Europe and the Rest of the World. Jockeys who are expected to compete include Yasunari Iwata, best known for his 2006 Melbourne Cup win on Delta Blues, Rising Australian star Luke Nolen, record-breaking young Italian Umberto Rispoli, as well as South African Anton Marcus, known locally as 'Superman'.
Saturday also sees racing at Haydock, where the Rose of Lancaster Stakes is the highlight, while there is also Group 3 action at Newmarket, in the form of the Sweet Solera.
