As we approach the end of July, it seems an appropriate time to recap on recent results and find some fresh jumping blood with which to go to war.

There have been a couple of recent reverses for followers of this column's Horses To Avoid, with The Ferbane Man and Classic Swain winning novice chases on successive Sundays at Southwell and Newton Abbot respectively. A review of either video, however, would show that backers of either horse were made to sweat as the pair made extremely hard work of landing the odds. They are even easier to swerve in future after such displays. Heron Bay and My Condor have both been beaten again since last featured and we've probably made enough profit on both of them for now, while Cinaman snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at Uttoxeter recently and is looking an excellent addition to the list. He holds no fewer than 6 entries in the coming days and should be opposed wherever he goes, especially at anticipated short odds in running. Classic Swain and the short-running Coeur De Lionne also hold entries at Worcester on Tuesday. Both should repay an in-running lay strategy, especially the latter who stopped very quickly on his hurdling debut.

It's been much harder work finding winners, with highly rated pair Mohanad and Conquisto forced to run in the Midsummer Hurdle at Market Rasen and neither able to live with trailblazing Australia Day who was featured in the preview of that prestigious meeting. Mohanad must now be discarded while Conquisto may prove himself in time, but probably not in the next couple of months. Prophete De Guye did us a good turn when bouncing back to winning ways at Worcester and is worth following again at Uttoxeter on Monday @ 19:55. Felix De Giles keeps the ride and is slowly getting to grips with James Evans' 7-y-o; a mark of 104, while representing a career high, may not be enough to halt his run of success. He will have to be on his mettle, however, as Lawney Hill's Bynack Mhor will be no pushover and was very nearly given an entry on the list a few weeks ago.

I also gave To Arms a good mention in my last column and should now officially add him to the list. He followed up a ready success at Southwell two weeks ago with an excellent run in defeat at Market Rasen and Lawney Hill certainly deserves to have her talents highlighted again.
