Dramatic 12 shot final day comeback sets punters up for top trade
A handful of punters bagged the trade of the century this weekend when Lee Westwood so nearly produced the comeback of the season at the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai.
Languishing 12 shots off the lead as the final day began, the Englishman produced a round of 67 to haul in faltering front-runners Phil Mickelson and Ross Fisher.
At the start of the day Westwood could be backed at (1000) on the exchange while at his lowest, he traded at a little under (3).
Mickleson emerged victorious at the end of the playoff but he was lucky to get there in the first place.
Young Englishman Ross Fisher had one hand on the trophy, needing just a bogey six on the 18th but managed to take seven shots after sending his third shot - a chip - straight through the green and into water.
Fisher was trading at 1.04 for victory before that particular nightmare.
Lefty traded at a high of (50) after looking like he had blown his chances for glory with a run of six dropped shots on the back nine.
* Westwood now trades at (9.2) to win the Order of Merit
