Lowery backer on a high after veteran comes in at 410
Surprise victory will have been cheered on by plenty of punters who backed American at big prices
Steve Lowery's surprise win at the AT & T Pro-Am netted one Betfair customer nearly £2,500 after a modest £5.94 was placed on him at odds of [410.0].
Scores of punters will have been cheering the veteran American on however, he was backed at three figures both during and pre-tournament which he won after a play-off with world no. 10 Vijay Singh.
The Fijian traded at [1.08] when seemingly bound for victory during his final round. But a spectacular string of three bogies in the closing stretch took Singh into the play-off which he lost at the first hole.
In India, local boy SSP Chowrasia, ranked 388th in the world, was matched at [290.0] on Betfair to win the inaugural Indian Masters.
A former caddie at the Calcutta Golf Club, Chowrasia played a flawless final round, opening with birdies and kept his cool on the 18th to win by two shots.
Irishman Damien McGrane was in contention for much of the four days and traded at a low of [3.0].
Pre-tournament favourite Ernie Els traded at [3.85], while Graeme McDowell touched [3.8] and first round leader Jyoti Randhawa hit a low of [3.3].
