Amazing seven shot turnaround sends Indian to tournament victory
Arjun Atwal came from nowhere to win the Malaysian Open this morning to surprise himself and shock his layers on Betfair - the Indian was matched at a high of [180.0] to win after looking out of contention following the tournament's third round.
Talking after the win, Atwal said: " Right now I'm in a different world.
"I've been playing pretty solid the last four weeks but it's been the same thing. I've been in the top-15 and haven't been able to get up the last few weeks."
Atwal came from seven shots off the pace to take the title via a playoff where he eclipsed defending champion Peter Hedblom at the second hole.
The Swede was matched at [1.24] to win but had to watch as a birdie putt at the 18th failed to drop.
"That putt on the 18th was in but how it didn't drop, I don't know," said Hedblom.
"It just hung on the edge. That was sad."
Hedblom has now lost all three playoffs he has faced on the European Tour.
England's Simon Dyson - known as an Asian specialist following four wins on the continent - was backed at a low of [1.5] after leading throughout much of the last day.
