Kildimo is not talking football clubs. He is not interested in discovering the way to Leyton Orient, with its ground capacity of 11,100 seats, thus making it London's most exclusive football club.

He wants to know which London casino to join.

Les Ambassadeurs is an early recommendation. Rockinron observes: "Cost you a grand to join...Probably worth it for the ambience & the chicks ....I've been many times but only as a guest."

Although he adds: "If you want somewhere a little less poncey ....try the Golden Nugget just of Piccadilly."

And there's Fifty. As the blurb goes: "Fifty upholds the exacting aesthetic values and high standards of service enjoyed by Wellington and D'Orsay."

D'Orsay, as if you dilettantes need telling, is the "notorious French dandy Count D'Orsay". Napoleon III finally offered him the position of director of the Beaux-Arts. That's right. That D'Orsay.

It is all to the good. And when you lose your stack remember to gaze upon the chandeliers and the gold flock walls and rest assured that your money has not gone to nought.
