World Darts Betting Tips Day 15: MvG to breeze into Last 16

Luke Humphries returns to action on Sunday and after treating us to some spellbinding stuff in his opening couple of matches, is 9/25.50 to pick up his second world title on January 3rd.

MvG to motor through to Last 16

Many people, including Peter Wright were expecting to see a battle between two former world champions and two of the greatest of all time for a spot in round four with Michael van Gerwen set to collide with Snakebite at this stage, however a dismal performance from the Scot saw him dumped out before Christmas by debutant Arno Merk.

Whilst there was a lot of emphasis, understandably, on the pretty sad and laboured showing from Wright, credit has to go too, to his opponent who ended the match with 47% checkout success, making the most of the opportunities he was afforded.

The German was tipped for great things as a youngster but having taken five years away from the game, he's now looking to make up for lost time.

However, one thing we weren't able to gauge is how he would respond and whether he'd have been as clinical had there been something troubling coming back at him, there was no pressure.

That won't be the case when he faces MvG who looked very good against a tricky opponent in Willie O'Connor last time out.

Averaging a ton, he took out some massive clutch finishes and will now fancy his chances of reaching the Last 16 for the fourth successive year and 14th time overall.

At 7/52.40, I'm backing him to win without dropping a set. 

Gian van Veen to continue charge towards world's top four

In November, Gian van Veen became just the second player in history to win back-to-back World Youth Championship titles and if he can maintain the level that he produced in his second round match at Ally Pally, there is no reason why he can't add the senior title in a week's time.

We know the 23-year-old has an astonishingly high ceiling and worryingly for others in the field, he is starting to show that more and more frequently.

Averaging in excess of 108 against Alan Soutar, by far the best we have seen so far at this year's tournament and the third highest we have ever seen in the second round of the Worlds, he put down a marker and there is no doubt in my mind that he can follow that up with another statement display.

A prolific scorer, his head-to-head record against Madars Razma is 3-3 but the young Dutch darter has won their last two with the Latvian's last triumph over Van Veen coming back in 2023.
