Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Ludlow, Newbury and Dundalk...

  • Rockinastorm a proven front-runner around Ludlow

  • Highlands Legacy's Aintree form working out really well

  • Instant Appeal in top form at Dundalk

13:45, Ludlow - Bold bid expected from Rockinastorm after reappearance

Henry Daly had a good winner at Cheltenham with Party Vibes last weekend and he looks capable of striking at his local track Ludlow with Rockinastorm in the handicap chase over just short of three miles.

The front-running Rockinastorm knows his way around Ludlow as he has had three runs over fences at the track, winning twice and beaten a neck on the other occasion. His last win there came just over a year ago before he followed up with another win at Wetherby and was placed at Ascot and Haydock after the turn of the year. Rockinastorm's Ludlow record has earned him the 'Horses For Courses' flag.

Rockinastorm made his reappearance in an amateur riders' handicap at Cheltenham in October and would have run respectably under Patrick Mullins had he completed, plugging on when coming down at the last. In receipt of weight from all his rivals, it would be no surprise to see him make a bold bid back at a track that clearly suits under his regular pilot of last season David Bass.

13:58, Newbury - Progressive Highlands Legacy looks on a good mark

Highlands Legacy had fair winning form over hurdles but has already proven himself better over the larger obstacles and he can make it two out of three over fences for Jonjo & A. J. O'Neill in the two-mile handicap chase at Newbury, looking to have further improvement in him.

After jumping accurately on his debut over fences to win a handicap at Worcester in October, Highlands Legacy was a good second in a better-grade handicap at Aintree next time which is looking strong form. Highlands Legacy earned the 'Horse In Focus' flag in going down by three quarters of a length to Mambonumberfive who has since followed up at Newbury. The third, Glengouly, has since gone on to win last weekend's December Gold Cup at Cheltenham, while the fourth, Javert Allen, has run well since and the fifth, Jour d'Evasion, was another next-time-out winner at Bangor.

Given how well that race is working out, a 3 lb rise in the weights means that Highlands Legacy remains well handicapped. He is therefore clear top in the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and is capable of proving that he's ahead of his mark off bottom weight.

17:55, Dundalk - 'Horse In Focus' Instant Appeal going for course hat-trick

Apache Outlaw has won this seven-furlong handicap for the last two years and bids for the hat-trick, but he finished some way behind Instant Appeal here 12 days ago and that one looks the one to beat in his attempt to complete a hat-trick of his own.

Now trained by Stephen Thorne, Instant Appeal started out with Jessica Harrington but has shown improved form of late, contributing to his current handler's 25% strike rate at Dundalk this year by winning his last two starts, both of them over a mile.

Instant Appeal earned the 'Horse In Focus' flag for his latest win when doing well to come from off the pace in a race run at just a modest gallop to win with plenty in hand by a length from Carolina Jetstream. As well as Apache Outlaw, that gives him the beating of Howyoulikethat and Exquisite Acclaim who were third and fourth respectively that day and take him on again.
