13:50 Goodwood - Ciarrai Abu the one to beat in the opener

Ciarrai Abu is a course winner who is very much going the right way and is taken to pull out more now stepping up to 1¼m for the first time.

The Harry Eustace-trained gelding broker his maiden tag here in May and then shaped well on his handicap debut last month, leaving the firm impression there's more progression over this longer trip.

That was also the feeling after his Ascot win earlier this month, when a strong closing sectional earned him both the Timeform 'Horse In Focus' and 'Sectional' flags.

From the family of Breeders' Cup Turf winner Red Rocks, he is fancied to improve again.

14:25 Goodwood - Another 'Sectional' flag for Richmond fancy Flann Sunna

An interesting race in prospect and it's hard not to be impressed with the start Flann Sunna has made to his career, and he looks sure to take plenty of beating now stepping up in grade.

Simon & Ed Crisford won this race in 2023 with Vandeek, a talented colt who was also quite late to the racecourse, and Flann Sunna looked very talented when making a winning debut at Windsor in June.

Connections decided to swerve Royal Ascot, instead running at the same venue a few weeks later, and his hands-and-heels demolition of several interesting rivals earned him both the Timeform 'Horse In Focus' and 'Sectional' flags.

He's fancied to continue his progression and see off Adaay Of Scarlett, Cut A Dash and Night In Vegas who have all shown plenty of ability.

15:35 Goodwood - Friendly Soul to spoil Diamond's Nassau party

Friendly Soul probably would have pushed subsequent Falmouth winner Blue Bolt very close with a better run through at Royal Ascot, and she looks the value call up against unbeaten three-year-old Diamond Necklace, who's bidding for her fourth Group 1 win in succession.

The John & Thady Gosden-trained mare stepped in a hole at Haydock earlier in the season, but was able to put that frightening experience behind her when running on nicely in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes last time.

She now steps back up to her preferred distance, has no problem with quick ground, and this 'Horse In Focus' can get back in the spotlight for all the right reasons.
