13:25 Newbury - Dubai Honour a ratings choice

Dubai Honour may be an eight-year-old, but he's still capable of very smart form, and he sets a healthy standard in the Geoffrey Freer.

He's travelled the world, a multiple Group 1 winner in Australia, while he also has pattern-race wins to his name in France too, and he ran a cracker when beaten a neck when attempting successive victories in the Tancred Stakes at Rosehill in March.

Dubai Honour wasn't suited by the drop to a mile and a quarter in another Group 1 in Australia when last seen in April, but he still ran a very solid race, confirming he's not slowing down as he gets older.

He's never been beyond a mile and a half, but this trip should be well within his reach, and his entry in the Irish St Leger suggests connections are looking to open him up this year. Dubai Honour is 6lb clear of his rivals on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and he should have too much class for these.

14:35 Newbury - Scoville can confirm himself well handicapped

Scoville won his first two starts last season, looking like he was going to develop into a high-class performer when winning a minor event at Newmarket by 14 lengths in a good time on his second start.

He didn't progress as expected afterwards, and was disappointing on his return to action when failing to beat a rival on his return at Thirsk earlier this year.

However, there has been more positive signs on his last two starts following a breathing operation, shaping much better than the bare result in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, and also in the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood last time.

Scoville was undone by the draw on that occasion, forced to work hard to get a good position in the early stages which left him short at the finish. He's a prominent racer who should be suited by this smaller field and this Horse In Focus can now confirm his mark a lenient one.

15:25 Ripon - Lord Roxby tailormade for Great St Wilfrid test

Lord Roxby has made good progress this season, winning a competitive handicap at York in May and holding his form well before producing a career-best effort over this course and distance 12 days ago.

He wasn't drawn as well as Dark Cloud Rising on that occasion, but showed good pace to get over to the stands' rail and he helped force the pace.

It briefly looked like he was beaten when coming under pressure, but he found plenty in the closing stages, and it was impressive how he put distance between himself and the runner-up in the final 100 yard, hitting the line strongly.

He's fared well with the draw, and it is worth noting that pace often holds up in the Great St Wilfrid, with eight of the last 10 runners making all of the running. Lord Roxby's mark still looks fair and he's sure to launch another bold bid.
