14:25, Yarmouth - Zhuri open to significant improvement

Zhuri is bred in the purple, out of a sister to the outstanding Frankel and a herself a half-sister to smart Oaks runner-up Legacy Link, and she could have hardly shaped with more promise on her debut at Newmarket recently.

That race seems sure to throw up an above-average performer or two and Zhuri caught the eye with how powerfully she moved through her race before seemingly getting tired in the closing stages.

She has the Timeform Large P attached to her rating, denoting that she's open to significant improvement, and she's well up to winning a race of this nature before having her sights raised further.

14:40, Pontefract - Alpha Magic ready to strike

Alpha Magic is a two-time winner in his career, but he's fallen quite a way in the weights this season following some poor efforts, but he took a big step back in the right direction when narrowly denied over this course and distance last month.

He showed the benefit of a short break, and it was the trouble in-running  he suffered early in the straight which proved the difference between winning and losing.

Alpha Magic was still the quickest horse in the last two furlongs, which means his effort can be marked up further and he has to go down as an unlucky loser. He has the Horse In Focus Flag as a result and, just 1lb higher in the weights, he appeals as being well handicapped following that effort, 10lb below his last winning mark after all.

19:45, Kempton - Ridger stands out on ratings

Ridger had shaped well on his two previous starts at Ffos Las (looks strong form) and Leicester and he was well backed with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle when opening his account at Wolverhampton last week.

He took another step forward to get off the mark in clear-cut fashion, having to wait for a gap around two furlongs out, but finding plenty once in the clear and he was well on top at the line despite being carried to his left.

Ridger has started out in handicaps from a basement mark, and there should be even more to come from him (he's a half-brother to a smart sprinter). He's at least 8lb clear on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to follow up under a penalty.
