Leicester, 14:22 - Promising HQ sixth King's Cavalry the one to beat

The well-bred King's Cavalry made a promising start in a Newmarket novice that has worked out really well (third, fourth and fifth have all won since) and with improvement on the cards this year, he can get the better of penalised winners Beagle Bay, who carried his head a little awkwardly when winning at Chelmsford, and Doncaster heavy-ground scorer I'll Be Back.

King's Cavalry was sent off at 50/1 for that October debut and, despite some early greenness, stayed on well in the closing stages to finish 4¾ lengths sixth of 15 to Yazin. The way he finished that race suggests that he will relish the stiff finish here and this close relation of the useful Wedding Dance, who won over this trip, is fancied to follow in his footsteps.

Leicester, 14:52 - Expressionless fancied to gain third April success

Expressionless - one of two Timeform 'Horses In Focus' in the field - shaped well over a shorter trip on his recent Doncaster reappearance and is taken to build on that promise.

The selection, who tops Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings, caught the eye in defeat last month under Harry Vigors and is reunited with the more experienced Ray Dawson here as he steps back up in trip. Given three of his five wins have come over 1m6f, the testing nature of this track should suit and he is adaptable in regard to underfoot conditions.

With two wins in April in recent years, he's preferred to fellow HIF Sea Of Charm who arrives on the back of two good runs on the all-weather, catching the eye in defeat last time.

Leicester, 16:52 - Engross fancied to improve again

Top-weight Engross made an impressive start to his handicap career at Chelmsford and can follow up with this longer trip likely to see him in an even better light (closely related to two winners including Gambol who won over this trip on the flat and up to 2¼m over jumps).

Trained by James Fanshawe, who has the Timeform 'Hot Trainer' flag at present, the three-year-old improved for the longer trip when a well-backed winner of a six-runner event on his handicap debut at Chelmsford last time by a length from Zipwire, responding well to lead late on, and he looks likely to stay this 1½m trip well on his first start on grass.

A 4 lb rise for that win may prove lenient and he's fancied to see off the Charlie Johnston pair of Gaelic Approach and Hengist Pod.
