Newmarket, 16.45 - Back Great Chieftain @ 7/24.50

A straight mile suits Great Chieftain well and he can mark his return to UK action with a fourth career win under those circumstances.

A couple of post Christmas outings in the Middle East saw the selection acquit himself well in two competitive Meydan handicaps despite racing around a couple of bends and one of the five-year-old's marquee performances was recorded over course and distance when he decisively landed a handicap on Guineas weekend 12 months ago.

Those Meydan reverses have seen the Gleneagles gelding slip to a mark in the 80s and it is worth noting that he was second on his side in the Cambridgeshire last autumn before flying out to foreign shores.

Great Chieftain will probably enjoy a fitness edge today, with the only slight reservation regarding his chance being box three with the stalls situated on the stands' side.

That can sometimes produce a marked track bias, but in the hope it is fair for all then Oliver Cole's gelding could take out the finale under Will Buick who partnered him to success at Haydock last term.

Market Rasen, 17.05 - Back Jasmine Bliss @ 7/24.50

The distinctive colours of the Noel Fehily Racing syndicates were carried to victory at Aintree on Saturday and Jasmine Bliss may repeat the trick in this valuable mares' novices' handicap chase.

Lightly-raced over fences this season, the daughter of Blue Bresil has enhanced her worth as a potential broodmare, winning her point, two bumpers and a couple of hurdle events prior to this season.

Her progress has continued this term over fences, embarking on three chase starts right handed, while the selection was well placed to grab some further blacktype over fences at Kempton when runner-up to Jax Junior in the Pendil Novices' Chase.

A quiet campaign may pay dividends here as she returns to handicap company under conditions which should play to her strengths.

Bluey, runner-up to the selection's stablemate Queens Gamble at Wincanton in February, may prove the toughest adversary.
