Sunday Racing Multi Tips: Back an ITV Aintree pair for weekend 20/1 double

Alan is hoping Aintree goes ahead on Sunday

Alan Dudman is keeping his fingers crossed with the weather on Sunday and he picks out two Aintree tips on Old Roan Chase day on ITV...

Sunday, Aintree, 13:50, 2m Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Tip: Back Klub Du Reve @ 4/15.00

Inspections all round for Sunday but we'll roll the dice in Liverpool against the wind warnings and kick off with Klub Du Reve in the 13:50.

Making his chasing debut in a handicap here, his trainer Harry Derham has barely bothered with hurdling, although he did bag a couple of races over the smaller ones at Kempton.

His first, in December 2025, was about as easy as you like by 10L in a Maiden Hurdle, and in slightly softer conditions scored by 3L winning the Grade 2 Dovecote.

Considering it was quite early in his career, passing that Graded test with such aplomb will get Derham dreaming. He has a high cruising speed and it was noticeable just how well he was going into the straight and even had the luxury of moving from the inside to the outer.

Rain is forecast, but at Kempton he handled good to soft well, and his knee action looks suited potentially to rain.

We'll see but I like him from 132 over fences.

Sunday, Aintree, 15:00, Old Roan Chase Tip: Back Boombawn @ 10/34.33

I was initially tempted by Imperial Saint who was last seen at 50/151.00 in the Grand National filling 13th spot.

It might be a case of getting him out and plotting where the season goes and am happy to swerve first up.

Boombawn looks a bit of a standout here at 10/34.33 and similar price to our opening leg, as he looks so well handicapped.

At his peak and running in this race last term, he was off 153 finishing behind Hitman and Master Chewy (who re-oppose again), but Boombawn's mark since has been in freefall.

He had a season spin for the campaign at Chepstow's big meeting two weeks ago in the Silver Trophy, and not a lot was expected over hurdles given he was priced at 50/151.00.

Back over fences and first-time headgear, I like his chances with good to soft no issue but I can see a speed track suiting him, but as a former Grade 2 winning novice, 143 is very tempting.

Skelton is the leading Aintree trainer in the last five seasons with 28 winners, 12 ahead of Pau Nicholls in that timespan at a strike-rate at a tick over 14%.
