Timeform aim to end the 2014 Ebor Festival with a profitable day as they bring you their three bets from the Knavesmire on Saturday...
Beacon stands out in this year's renewal of the Gimcrack Stakes at 15:15. This lengthy colt has been steadily progressive this season, racking up four straight wins before going down fighting when third in the Molecombe at Goodwood. That run suggested he would be suited by the step up to six furlongs and he therefore rates a confident selection here. Al Shaqab Racing's Baitha Alga won the Group Two Norfolk Stakes in good style when last seen and should pose the greatest threat.
Lady Cecil sent out Tiger Cliff to win the Ebor in 2013 and the yard look to have a comparable candidate this time around in the shape of Mighty Yar. This lightly raced four-year-old has a very similar profile to last year's winner and his form this term suggests the 14 furlongs and strong pace of an Ebor could well bring out his best. Having just scraped in at the very bottom of the weights, everything looks set for a big run. The claims of long-time favourite Pallasator have been well documented and he looks sure to give a bold show, however Mighty Yar is preferred at the prices.
Luca Cumani has his horses in fine form and can record another victory with Ajman Bridge in the 17:00. This useful handicapper has been unlucky not to win on his last two starts at Newbury and Goodwood, but has shaped very nicely and can gain compensation here with the likely strong pace sure to suit. Llanarmon Lad has been in irreproachable form this season and rates a big danger under Ryan Moore, however he may have to settle for second here behind Ajman Bridge.
