With Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy both sidelined this is an excellent opportunity for Balder Succes, who was one of last season's top novices. He's been beaten by God's Own the last twice, but he did too much too soon at Punchestown on the first occasion and was giving away 7 lb to his rival at Exeter on reappearance. The highly regarded Vukovar is also of interest for his red-hot yard.

Carole's Destrier - 15:10 Chepstow

Carole's Destrier jumped like an old hand when seeing off a couple of next-time-out winners at Exeter in November. He looks a very smart staying chaser in the making and can defy top weight returned to a handicap. C&D winner Hansupfordetroit is also one to take seriously if ready to go on his return, whilst Amigo will be much sharper for a recent pipe-opener.

Bennys Mist - 15:15 Aintree

Bennys Mist has plenty of experience over these fences, finishing second from this mark in April's Topham, and he could be worth chancing in a wide-open renewal. Persian Snow is better than he showed in last month's Paddy Power and makes the shortlist, along with last year's victor Rebel Rebellion.
