Timeform put up selections from Bath and Lingfield on Wednesday...

Our first bet runs in the 15:20 at Bath as we side with Roger Charlton's unexposed sprinter Sleep Walk. There is plenty of quality in Sleep Walk's pedigree as her dam is a half-sister to the high-class pair Bated Breath and Cityscape, and she made an excellent start to her career when justifying odds-on favouritism here in a maiden and on handicap debut at Leicester. Sleep Walk only won by a narrow margin at Leicester - beat subsequent winner Castorienta by a neck - but she was well on top, always in control having cruised through the race. It was a bit disappointing that she couldn't complete the hat-trick at Kempton, only managing fourth, but she still shaped well with the future in mind, finishing well on the heels of the leaders having raced keenly in the early stages, and there is plenty still to come. Today's slight back in trip could suit, while her high-class pedigree and the positive impression she has created suggests that she can overcome a mark of 74.

Dutch Rifle escapes a penalty for her recent win in an Apprentice Handicap at Southwell and she should prove difficult to beat in the extended 10-furlong handicap at Bath (15:50). Dutch Rifle showed strong reserves of stamina, in addition to a good attitude, to win over an extended mile at Wolverhampton last time, building on the promise of her prior start at Southwell, and there could still be more to come, bearing in mind that she has made just the four career starts. Only one of those outings has come on turf, but she showed enough when finishing sixth in a hot three-year-old handicap at Haydock to suggest that this surface will hold no fears, and Dutch Rifle looks a good bet.

Rome and Whaleweigh Station set the standard in Lingfield's seven-furlong maiden at 16:05, but both are proving expensive to follow, and it may be worth siding with Song of Norway who shaped well when finishing runner-up at Salisbury last time. Song of Norway hinted at promise as a juvenile, but she hasn't kicked on from that encouraging start, failing to settle on her first three outings this term. The drop back in trip, allied with the fitting of cheekpieces, seemed to have a positive effect, however, as Song of Norway produced her best effort this season to finish a close-up second at Salisbury, and she can build on that effort by gaining an overdue victory.

Timeform UK SmartPlays:
Back Sleep Walk @ 3.1511/5 in the 15:20 at Bath
Back Dutch Rifle @ 3.7511/4 in the 15:50 at Bath
Back Song of Norway @ 4.131/10 in the 16:05 at Lingfield
